In her role as the Chancellor of Penn State Lehigh Valley, Dr. Richardson’s responsibilities encompass overseeing the academic opportunities available to students, managing budgets and finances, and providing leadership to ensure the campus operates smoothly and efficiently. Penn State Lehigh Valley provides students with an extensive selection of 275 degree programs, offering the flexibility to seamlessly transfer to another PSU campus to complete their four-year degree, or remain at the Lehigh Valley campus and complete one of ten degree offerings. The opportunities are abundant, with various avenues to gain hands-on experience through internships, student worker positions, studying abroad, community engagement work, and more. These experiences play a crucial role in nurturing a professional skillset. 

Students also have the option to remain at PSU-LV and pursue a degree in fields closely aligned with the thriving industries of the Lehigh Valley. Whether it’s criminal justice, cyber security/analytics, business, or multiple other disciplines, PSU-LV ensures students have the chance to excel and thrive in their chosen paths.

Historically, women in the Valley had to fight for basic respect in industrial settings. For #WomensHistoryMonth, we’re looking back at those who forged the path for the modern industry.

🔌 Iva Ferris, a former employee at the historic Bethlehem Steel, faced extreme hostility when she worked in the electrical repair shop over 40 years ago. She didn’t let that deter her from her craft, and she mastered the trade.

💪🏼 Bess King and other women started their careers as millwright apprentices at Bethlehem Steel in the late 1970s. Taunted by their male counterparts, they paved the way for pregnancy leave and safety protocols that are now standard in union contracts.
