Historically, women in the Valley had to fight for basic respect in industrial settings. For #WomensHistoryMonth, we’re looking back at those who forged the path for the modern industry.

🔌 Iva Ferris, a former employee at the historic Bethlehem Steel, faced extreme hostility when she worked in the electrical repair shop over 40 years ago. She didn’t let that deter her from her craft, and she mastered the trade.

💪🏼 Bess King and other women started their careers as millwright apprentices at Bethlehem Steel in the late 1970s. Taunted by their male counterparts, they paved the way for pregnancy leave and safety protocols that are now standard in union contracts.
