Brianna arrived at PA CareerLink® Lehigh Valley in July 2023, seeking assistance from the  Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program for a second time. Four years earlier,  she received support to find certified nurse aide training and begin a career in healthcare. At that time, her long-term goal was to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Now, Brianna returned to  CareerLink to advance in her career pathway and achieve that goal.

She received guidance from her career counselor and recruiter, completed assessments,  participated in employability skills workshops with the instructor team, attended a training information session conducted by the training/education coordinator, and developed a new resume. With this combined staff support, Brianna was ready to enroll in Falcon Institute of Health and Science’s Practical Nurse Education Program.

Financial aid and WIOA funding made it possible for her to begin LPN classes in May 2023. She remained in contact with her recruiter and career counselor, providing semimonthly updates.  Unfortunately, Brianna faced multiple challenges throughout her coursework. When housing instability resulted in a very difficult situation for her family, she took an approved leave from

training to resolve the issue. A few months later, Brianna resumed classes with a positive attitude and achieved excellent grades.

Brianna completed her LPN courses in September 2024. She took the National Council Licensure  Examination (NCLEX) in November 2024 and passed it on her first attempt! Brianna received a very special gift in December when she accepted a licensed practical nurse role at Cedarbrook Senior  Care & Rehab. Her $27.73 hourly wage offers financial security and allows her to meet her family’s needs. The entire PA CareerLink® Lehigh Valley team congratulates Brianna for her amazing accomplishment!
