A Navy veteran discharged in June 1996 met with the DVOP on 5/12/2026 for an intake and skills assessment. The veteran had recently resigned from Termac Corporation, where they worked as a Service Technician performing repair, installation, and preventive maintenance on commercial dishwashing systems.
The veteran is a justice-impacted individual who was released from incarceration in February 2021. The veteran demonstrated strong motivation to reenter the workforce in technical and maintenance-related fields. Their background includes hands-on experience in HVAC/R, electro-mechanical troubleshooting, facility systems, and emergency response, supported by certifications such as EPA 608/609, OSHA 10/30/40, EMT-Advanced, and Electro-Mechanical Technician.
The DVOP developed a targeted résumé and second-chance cover letter highlighting skills gained in the Navy, the Department of Corrections, and the civilian sector. The veteran attended a job fair later that day—an event organized by the LVER and Business Services Coordinator—and interviewed with A1 Towing, openly discussing their justice-impacted background.
The DVOP conducted employer outreach with A1 Towing’s HR representative, advocating for the veteran and emphasizing the value of second-chance hiring. Following this discussion, A1 Towing collaborated with the LVER to develop a customized Facilities Maintenance Technician position tailored to the veteran’s needs and abilities.
The veteran received an official offer of employment on 5/14/2026 as a Facilities Maintenance Technician, beginning work on 05/26/2026 at $20.00 per hour.
This placement highlights the impact of coordinated DVOP services, strong employer engagement, and effective collaboration between the LVER, Business Services Coordinator, and local partners to support justice-impacted veterans.
